Victor Osimhen is confident that Taiwo Awoniyi, a fellow countryman, will live up to his high price tag at new club Nottingham Forest.
Awoniyi made a record-breaking £17.5 million transfer to the City Ground on Saturday.
In 43 appearances for Union Berlin last season across all competitions, the 23-year-old scored 20 goals.
The striker, who was formerly signed by Premier League powerhouse Liverpool, will be held to a high standard.
Osimhen believes that Awoniyi has the potential to live up to expectations with his new team. Osimhen said on Wazobia FM, “I am happy for him.”
“When I moved to Napoli, people said a lot of bad things, but it was all wrong.
“Moving to Nottingham Forest shows that he believes in himself. He will still go higher, and make bigger moves.
“I believe in Awoniyi completely, and I’m happy for him. And definitely, he would prove his doubters wrong,” he said.
