Brazil legend Pele has taken steps to reassure the public that his recent hospitalisation was merely a “monthly visit.”
The three-time World Cup champion, who is considered one of the best players ever, has been receiving medical attention at home in Brazil.
Last year, Pele had surgery to remove a tumour from his colon, and ever since, he has been in and out of the hospital.
Following his admission earlier this week, his daughter Kely Nascimento stated on Wednesday that there was “no surprise or emergency” regarding her father’s hospitalisation.
The Brazilian men’s team competing in the World Cup in Qatar sent an encouraging message to the 82-year-old.
Pele took to Instagram to show his gratitude for the support, sharing a picture of a building in Qatar with his image and the words “get well soon” lit up.
“Friends, I am at the hospital making my monthly visit,” he wrote. “It’s always nice to receive positive messages like this. Thanks to Qatar for this tribute, and to everyone who sends me good vibes.”
