Jordan Henderson, the captain of Liverpool, is still very eager to represent England even though he is no longer a starter for the Three Lions.
Henderson took part in five of his country’s Euro 2020 games but didn’t start any of them. Ever since, he hasn’t been in Gareth Southgate’s preferred starting lineup, and he was only added to the current team when Kalvin Phillips withdrew due to injury.
He isn’t considering leaving international football despite falling out of favor; he is still driven to play for England. The 32-year-old is confident in his ability to play for club and country despite his advancing years.
“It’s always been a battle, but it’s about the collective,” he told The Times.
“You’ve mentioned Jude [Bellingham] and Declan [Rice], Kalvin [Phillips], people like that have done really well. It’s about doing my best whenever I’m here or at Liverpool. I look at some players still playing internationals at 37. It just depends on how you feel physically and I feel very good.”
In the most recent international break, England lost twice to Hungary, the most recent loss being a 4-0 thumping.
