Everton midfielder Alex Iwobi has been named to the Premier League Player of the Month shortlist for September.
The Nigerian international was instrumental in Frank Lampard’s team holding Liverpool to a draw in the Merseyside derby, and he also provided the solitary assist in Everton’s much-needed season-opening victory over West Ham last time out.
Marcus Rashford of Manchester United and Kevin De Bruyne of Manchester City are the other two players on the short list of six.
De Bruyne made a significant contribution to City in September, helping the team score three of its four goals during their victories over Wolves and tie with Aston Villa.
Rashford, meanwhile, appears entirely revitalized after a disappointing 2021/22 season and a horrible start to this season. He contributed to United’s lone goal in a victory over Leicester at the beginning of the month and scored twice as United defeated Arsenal 3-1.
Here is the complete list below:
Alex Iwobi
Marcus Rashford
Kevin De Bruyne
Pierre Emile Hojbjerg
Jacob Ramsey
Phillip Billing
KemiFilani reports that Erling Haaland despite winning the POTM for August and scoring two more goals in two games in September didn’t make the list.
