At Selhurst Park, Crystal Palace overcame a 1-0 deficit to defeat Wolves 2-1 and climb into the top half of the Premier League standings.
Eberechi Eze and Wilfried propels Crystal Palace to move into the top half of the Premier League after Adama Traore gave Wolves the lead at Selhurst Park.
Adama Traore’s first goal in the 31st minute forced Patrick Vieira’s team, who are now in tenth place, to battle hard for the victory.
The 26-year-old took advantage of Hugo Bueno’s floated cross to give the Midlands team the lead.
The Spain international gave Vicente Guaita no chance with a close-range header that he arrowed into the bottom right corner.
Traore was surrounded by his teammates in response to Wolves grabbing the lead against the flow of play.
The winger spent the second part of the 2021/2022 season on loan at Barcelona, so it was his first Premier League goal since January.
Amazingly, it was his first headed strike in his professional career.
Wolves have had difficulty scoring this season, as they have only done so five times in the Premier League.
Despite only having three shots on target, they had the opportunity to lead by three going into the interval.
Within the first five minutes, veteran attacker Diego Costa nearly scored but was wonderfully denied by Guaita.
And just before halftime, Ruben Neves, who scored the game-winning goal in Saturday’s 1-0 triumph over Nottingham Forest, hit the post with a free kick.
When Palace equalized at the start of the second half, Wolves were immediately made to pay for their lost opportunities.
In South London, Eberechi Eze was a notable performer who scored with a header of his own after being set up by Michael Olise’s inswinging pass.
The young international for England just missed from a few yards out as he guided his header back across goal and into the bottom corner.
Wilfried Zaha gave Palace the lead in the 69th minute after sustained pressure.
Odsonne Edouard was expertly slid in by Eze, who then found Zaha running, with the Ivorian taking a touch before misfiring from 12 yards to send Jose Sa the wrong way. Palace went in pursuit of another, but they couldn’t beat Sa for a third time.
The Eagles are now three points behind fifth-placed Manchester United after rising five points above the relegation zone.
Wolves, who are currently ranked 17th, were unable to string together consecutive victories.
Southampton would fall into the bottom three if they defeated Bournemouth on Wednesday night.
