Mikel Arteta praised his team’s performance, saying that Arsenal won “every dual” that day in their deserved victory over Liverpool on Sunday night.
Arsenal were in excellent form at the Emirates, scoring two goals from Bukayo Saka and one each from Gabriel Martinelli to win 3-2 and reclaim first place in the Premier League.
As was to be expected, Arteta was ecstatic about how well his team played when speaking to Sky Sports after the game, he said: “It is great, especially the way we won the game, the way we played, the atmosphere that we generated as well and I think we deserved to win the game.
“The threat that they have in any moment, they can open you up and exploit the spaces and they were very efficient with the chances that they had to convert them. But I think we showed a lot of composure and character in difficult moments to overcome them, especially with the way we played in the second half.
“The organisation, the timing of the press, we won every dual and every second ball.
When asked about Martinelli’s man of the match performance, Arteta said: “He is so young, and obviously when you see where he was a year ago when he started against Brentford and where he is today, the development is just phenomenal.
“It’s his hunger, his desire and how much he loves to play, to train, to get better every single day.”
