Report has it that no member of the Nigerian Football Federation, NFF, attended the burial ceremony of late footballer, Isaac Promise.
The 31-year old who captained the youth team died of suspected heart attack back on October 2019.
Isaac Promise was buried in an unceremonious manner despite giving his best to the country’s football growth.
He captained Nigeria at U-17, U-20 and U-23, led Nigeria to Olympic Silver at Beijing 2008, led Nigeria to U-20 World Cup Silver & AFCON Gold in 2005
Sadly, no single NFF representative was present at his funeral.
“We sent out the programme in December, but there was no representative from the football community,” family member told newsmen.
“Imagine a former captain of Nigeria and there was no NFF representatives among the audience, and not even a former teammate.
“This is another lesson for footballers, you are only important when you are actively involved in the game because no one cares after your career is over.”
Isaac Promise is survived by his wife and three kids.
