The 11 players chosen for the 2021/22 Champions League Team of the Season have been revealed by UEFA, with Real Madrid and Liverpool dominating with four picks each.

In Paris, Los Blancos won the European Cup/Champions League for the 14th time, defeating Liverpool 1-0 in the final thanks to a second-half goal by Vinicius Junior.

He joins Real teammates Karim Benzema, Thibaut Courtois, and Luka Modric in UEFA’s best XI for the season. All three have been outstanding at various stages of the competition.

Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk, Andrew Robertson, and Fabinho all make the list, as do Antonio Rudiger of Chelsea, Kevin De Bruyne of Manchester City, and Kylian Mbappe of Paris Saint-Germain, who recently turned down a move to Real Madrid to stay at the Parc des Princes.

Benzema, a striker for Real Madrid, was also named the Champions League Player of the Season after scoring 15 goals in 2021-22.

With some sublime forward play and finishing, the French talisman kept Real in the competition in the knockout stages, almost single-handedly keeping Real in the competition as he saw off PSG, Chelsea, and Manchester City.
