Tyrone Ebuehi, a defender for Nigeria’s national team, is close to finalizing a permanent transfer to the Serie A club Empoli.
Benfica’s Ebuehi spent the previous season on loan at another Serie A team, Venezia.
Paolo Zanetti, the manager of Empoli, is eager for a reunion with the player because he was the one who brought the versatile defender to Venezia the previous year.
Since his transfer to Benfica in 2018, the player, who is now 26 years old, has struggled badly with recurrent injuries.
However, Ebuehi was unable to play at all during the 2018-19 season because he sustained an injury during training.
The left-back played for the Eredivisie club FC Twente while on loan during the 2020–2021 season.
The 2021 Africa Cup of Nations was held in Cameroon, and he was a member of the Nigerian team that competed there.
