Joan Laporta, President of Barcelona, stated that his meeting with Jorge Mendes was not focused on Cristiano Ronaldo.
He met with Mendes and discussed the transfer market in general with the super agent, according to him.
Ronaldo informed Manchester United last weekend that he wishes to leave Old Trafford. The Portuguese is said to be irritated by the club’s lack of transfer activity.
Another factor driving his search for a new club is his desire to play in the Champions League next season.
However, it is unclear where the football legend will be next season, with clubs such as Chelsea reportedly interested in signing him.
Mendes, one of the most powerful agents in the world, will be tasked with finding a new club for the Portuguese star.
According to Marca, Laporta revealed that he met with Mendes during a press conference at Camp Nou, but remained tight-lipped about a potential move for Ronaldo.
“I had dinner with Jorge Mendes on Monday and we talked about the market in general,” he said.
“Cristiano? I’m not going to talk about players we discussed at the meeting, but it’s always good to know how some names are on the market.”
