Transfer: Newcastle set to finalise deal for Garang Kuol

Garang Kuol

Garang Kuol, an Australian player, is about to sign a contract with Newcastle United.

A deal is reportedly in place after Eddie Howe’s team beat out competition from a number of clubs, including German powerhouses Borussia Dortmund. Earlier this month, KFN revealed that Newcastle were in talks with his club, the Central Coast Mariners.

Newcastle were waiting for Kuol to finish his international duty with Australia this month before finalising the deal. Following his Sunday debut against New Zealand, the 18-year-old is reportedly on his way to Europe.

Prior to a move that would be finalised in January, Kuol and his camp have already reached an agreement with Newcastle. At that point, the Magpies will decide what to do with him in the near future.

Currently, Kuol would not be eligible for a work permit, but if he participates in the World Cup finals, that situation might quickly change. When Graham Arnold, the manager, names his team in a few weeks, this won’t be known.

According to reports, Newcastle has already made plans to loan Kuol out to a European league; the duration of the loan will depend on Kuol’s work permit situation.
