Barcelona are in talks with Manchester City over a move for defender Joao Cancelo, talkSPORT understands.
Cancelo was expected to stay at City this season after impressing Pep Guardiola following his return from a loan at Bayern Munich, but they are now open to selling after Barca came to the table.
City would prefer a permanent deal, but it’s unlikely Barcelona will be able to afford the £50million-rated star due to their financial situation.
That is despite selling Ousmane Dembele to Paris Saint-Germain, with the Frenchman deciding to depart the Nou Camp and return to France with the Ligue 1 giants.
Dembele was on the market for €100m from August 1, but PSG managed to find a loophole to sign him for €50m after activating a ‘private’ clause.
However, it has been claimed Barcelona will not receive all of that €50m fee, putting a big question mark over their ability to sign Cancelo outright.
