South Korean international Son Heung-min is now a year younger.
This was after his home country South Korea changed the way they have been counting the ages of their citizens.
The Asian country has been counting all babies as one-year-olds at birth, this included their gestation period.
This meant that everyone from that country would also become a year older on January 1st – even those who were born in December.
However, South Korea has now adopted the international methods, where babies are counted as zero upon birth and have a year to their age annually.
Tottenham forward Son was born on July 8, 1992 and has always been classified by the international method in the United Kingdom. This means that his age will remain the same on various stats websites.
But in his home country, the changes would be affected to correspond with the UK method.
He has now become younger back in his homeland while his contract and registration with Tottenham will also not be affected.
