PSG forward Kylian Mbappe has just surpassed both Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi as the world’s richest footballer, with the French international’s annual earnings now exceeding £116 million.
Messi and Ronaldo were listed as the two highest-paid football players on Forbes’ annual rich list of athletes earlier this year, but that looks set to change in 2023.
This follows news that Ronaldo declined a chance to sign with Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal this summer, a move that would have nearly doubled his yearly earnings.
Very few people will be shocked by Mbappe’s new position as the richest football player in the world because of a recently signed bumper new contract at PSG. However, a large number of players continue to make more money from off-field endorsements.
In light of the foregoing, the ten richest football players in the world are listed below, taking into account both their annual on-and off-field earnings.
Here is the list below:
Kylian Mbappe – £116m
Cristiano Ronaldo – £104.9m
Lionel Messi – £102.1m
Neymar – £84.5m
Mohamed Salah – £36.6m
Eden Hazard – £29m
Andres Iniesta – £27.8m
Raheem Sterling – £27.3m
Kevin de Bruyne – £26.9m
Antoine Griezmann – £25.5m
