Napoli reacted that to the bizarre TikTok video that has infuriated their main man, Victor Osimhen
The video appears to have mocked the Nigeria International after the striker missed a penalty against Bologna over the weekend.
Napoli, in a statement on Thursday evening, said the video was not intended to get the striker offended.
The post on the Serie A champions’ TikTok account showed footage of the Super Eagles man appealing for the penalty.
The clip then showed Osimhen missing the spot kick after insisting he wanted to take it.
Osimhen, through his agent, Roberto Calenda, then threatened legal action against Napoli.
It has taken the five days to react to the incident, describing Osimhen as a ‘treasure of the club’..
“Calcio Napoli, wishing to avoid any exploitation of the issue, point out that we never wanted to offend or mock Victor Osimhen, who is a treasure of this club,” the club said.
“As proof of that, during the summer training retreat, the Club firmly rebuffed every offer that was received for the striker’s transfer abroad.
“Social media, in particular TikTok, has always used an expressive form of language with a light heart and creativity, without wanting to, as in the case with Osimhen as protagonist, have any intention of insult or derision.
“In any case, if Victor perceived any offence towards him, this was not what the club intended.”
