Sergio Reguilon has reportedly been offered a loan to Barcelona by Tottenham manager Antonio Conte, who is eager to offload the defender this summer, according to reports.
Conte is leading a squad overhaul at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The departure of Steven Bergwijn has only served to offset the influx of Djed Spence, Fraser Forster, Ivan Perisic, Yves Bissouma, Richarlison, and Clement Lenglet.
But according to the Evening Standard, the Italian has plans to fire up to eight players. And former Real Madrid star Reguilon is among the most notable names on that list.
Reguilon was left behind and forced to train in London after being cut from Antonio Conte’s preseason squad. He was expected to return to Sevilla, where he excelled while on loan there in 2019–20. Despite reports that negotiations were “at an advanced stage,” no agreement has been reached.
And now Spurs has moved to make a temporary transfer offer for the player to Barcelona. This most recent information comes from Mundo Deportivo, which claims the financially troubled club kept his name “on the table” this summer.
Reguilon is being considered by Xavi as a potential serious rival for Jordi Alba.
Reguilon, 25, had a successful start to his career after joining the team in north London two years prior for a potential £32 million fee. The Madrid-born defender signed a five-year contract, but Jose Mourinho recruited him.
