Sadiq Umar, a Nigerian international, has returned to the club’s preseason ahead of the 2022–23 season, giving newly promoted La Liga team Almeria a boost.
Sadiq and his teammates could be seen exercising in a video that the club posted on their Twitter account.
The forward joined the full team session on Wednesday after previously working out in the gym by himself since joining the Rojiblancos.
The Super Eagles forward’s absence from Almeria’s preseason opener on Saturday fueled rumours that he may have played his final match for the team after assisting in their promotion to the top division.
The club did, however, confirm that Sadiq was not at practise because he had been given permission for an extended vacation following his participation in Nigeria’s AFCON qualifying matches.
In the early June 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, the Eagles squad that defeated Sierra Leone 2-1 and destroyed Sao Tome and Principe 10-0 included the 24-year-old striker.
The former Roma player’s future with the Rojiblancos has been in doubt after two incredible seasons at the Mediterranean Games Stadium because he has been linked with a transfer away from the team.
A few Spanish teams interested in the Nigerian’s services include Sevilla, Real Betis, and Villarreal, while Almeria is holding out for a €20 million transfer fee for one of their most prized players.
Sadiq helped Almeria gain promotion to La Liga by scoring 18 league goals during the 2021–2022 season.
