Newcastle dominate as EPL unveil October’s player, manager of the month nominees

In the Premier League’s Player of the Month voting for October, Newcastle are heavily represented, and Eddie Howe is also on the short list for Manager of the Month.

Miguel Almiron, Kieran Trippier, and Bruno Guimaraes, all of whom played significant roles as Howe’s team took an incredible 16 points out of a possible 18, scored 16 goals, and gave up just three goals, are the Magpies’ representatives on the Player of the Month shortlist.

In five of his team’s games in the Premier League in October, Almiron scored six goals. Trippier led a fierce defensive effort and contributed two assists, while Bruno was a driving force with two goals and two of his own.

Erling Haaland of Manchester City and Kevin De Bruyne, who won the honour for September, are their rivals in the Player of the Month race.

In just four appearances, Haaland contributed to eight goals, including a hat-trick in the Manchester derby. De Bruyne added three more assists, giving him a four-point lead over the competition in the league’s assist standings. City boss Pep Guardiola is up for Manager of the Month.

Kepa Arrizabalaga of Chelsea has been nominated in recognition of his return to form, which included three clean sheets in six games and at least five saves in three games.

Granit Xhaka, who played a slightly more attacking role for the Gunners and scored twice, is one of the Arsenal nominees. The last name on the manager’s list is Mikel Arteta.

Leandro Trossard of Brighton completes the shortlist for Player of the Month after scoring a hat-trick against Liverpool and additional goals against Manchester City and Chelsea.
