Some Liverpool fans have taunted Manchester United by flying a banner over their training ground to remind them that they are the UEFA Champions League winners.
Liverpool won the 2018/2019 UCL by defeating fellow English Premier League side Tottenham 2-0 in the final. This was a year after they lost out to Real Madrid in the final.
Manchester United are currently in Australia on a pre-season tour where the fans taunted them. They were training for a game against Perth Glory with over 12,000 fans present to watch them when the banner flew across the sky.
Meanwhile, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has spoken of the club’s readiness to put last season’s disappointment behind them.
“It has been very good so far, we are just getting over the jet-lag.
“We have been training, I am not a big cricket fan, but it is great to be able to train at this stadium.
“We know last year was disappointing, but we know what we need to aim for.
“We have got trophies to play for, it is about bouncing back and pre-season has been encouraging.
“I think the players have done well. If we are only at Carrington sometimes that goes stale. It is new enthusiasm.”
