Paris Saint-Germain ace Lionel Messi has sent a message to his former teammate at Barcelona Sergio Busquets.
Messi sent out a video message at the player’s farewell event, expressing his gratitude and love towards the veteran Spanish midfielder.
Busquets is leaving the Catalan side after an 18-year-long journey, having joined the club in 2005 and took over the captain armband after Messi left in 2021.
He has won a massive 32 trophies, including nine La Liga titles and three Champions League trophies with the club.
On May 31, Barcelona held a special farewell event for Busquets at Camp Nou and Messi was invited but could not make it.
However, the 35-year-old managed to send a heartfelt message to his former teammate and friend and now the club has shared the clip of the Argentina icon paying his tribute to the Spain legend.
Translated to English, Messi said, according to GiveMeSport, “Hello Buse, apologies I can’t be there. For all these years, you gave so much to the club, and it was a privilege playing those many years with you and to share moments off the pitch, as well. I wish the very best to you and your family. I love you; you know.”
