Francis Uzoho worst days

Super Eagles goalkeeper, Francis Uzoho, has said the days since the failure of the Nigerian team to qualify for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar have been the worst of his life.

Uzoho had been named man of the match when the Eagles faced the Black Stars of Ghana in the first leg of the 2022 World Cup play-offs that ended goalless in Kumasi.

However, his failure to save a Thomas Partey long range shot prevented the Eagles from securing a spot in the World Cup finals as the game ended 1-1, giving the Ghanaians an away goal advantage.

He has now joined Williams Troost-Ekong and Leon Balogun in apologising for the outcome of the match.

The 23-year-old took to Instagram to express how he has been feeling since the game.

“This past couple of days have been the worst in my lifetime,” Uzoho wrote.

“I wanted to take my nation to Qatar but rather did the opposite. I know what football means to you all and to myself, I can’t promise not to make mistakes again, but I can promise not to give up until I bring back that smile on your faces. Thank you for the support and God bless.”
