Hasan Salihamidzic, the sporting director at Bayern Munich, has referred to Tottenham striker Harry Kane as “one of the best players in the world.”
The 29-year-old has frequently been mentioned as Robert Lewandowski’s replacement at the Allianz Arena.
There have been rumors that the Bundesliga’s powerhouses may try to sign the England captain next summer, when he will only have one year left on his contract with the north London club.
Salihamidzic recently downplayed a bid for the 2018 World Cup Golden Boot winner.
Again declining to comment on a potential transfer for the former Leyton Orient loanee, Bayern’s manager.
However, following Bayern’s 2-0 away win at Hoffenheim on Saturday, he praised Kane in an interview with BILD TV.
Salihamidzic said of the legendary center-forward for Spurs: “He is one of the best players in the world.
“But we are not talking about players who are under contract with other clubs.”
He then stated that the Bavarian outfit would not be active in the January transfer window.
Salihamidzic added: “We’ve done a lot this summer and I think we’re very well prepared for the whole season.
“We won’t be active on the transfer market in winter.”
In a statement made earlier this month, Kane called Bayern a “top, top club.”
However, he insisted that his attention is still entirely on the season with the Spurs.
When asked about his future, he said: “I’m focussed on Tottenham Hotspur and trying to do my best for us.
“For sure Bayern are a top, top club, but all my concentration is on Tottenham.”
Spurs are eager to lock down Kane, and manager Antonio Conte has pleaded with the forward to sign new terms.
