Graham Potter provides update on Mendy, N’Golo Kante ahead of AC Milan clash

Graham Potter provides update on Mendy

Graham Potter has stated that despite Edouard Mendy rejoining the team, Chelsea’s top spot is still up for grabs.

After missing their previous two games with a knee injury, the Blues manager confirmed that Mendy will be in the squad for their Champions League match at home against AC Milan.

Potter also mentioned that N’Golo Kante is improving from a hamstring injury that has kept him out since August, and that Jorginho and Kai Havertz felt some discomfort after their win at Crystal Palace this past weekend but trained in preparation for Milan’s visit.

Although Potter refused to identify his preferred goalkeeper, he may still choose to play Kepa Arrizabalaga at the San Siro and possibly in the upcoming weeks.

“I think if you look at what we’ve got over the next six weeks, it’s an incredible schedule,” said Potter.

“So I’m in no rush to label anyone one or two or anything like that. I want to help Edou get fit and ready to play, which he’s done really well so far.

“Then we’ve got two goalkeepers, and in an ideal world you want football to decide. We’ve got two we really believe in and that’s a really good situation for us.”

Despite Kante’s progress he won’t feature on Wednesday night’s clash, Potter revealed.
