Chelsea plans to add Josko Gvardiol, another RB Leipzig star, to their shopping list in order to complete a raid for the following summer.
According to reports, the Blues have already agreed to terms with the German powerhouses to sign Christopher Nkunku.
After signing a pre-contract agreement and reportedly passing a medical, Nkunku’s £52.7 million release clause is said to have been activated by the Premier League club.
While the forward appears to be on his way to Stamford Bridge, it appears that a new defender is also high on the priority list.
After playing 52 times for Dinamo Zagreb before moving on to Leipzig, where he has since made another 55 appearances, Gvardiol is regarded as one of the best young defenders in Europe.
The Croatian international, who is only 20 years old, has the potential to become a star in the years to come, and Chelsea has already recognised that potential.
The central defender was a target for the Blues in an £80 million deal over the summer, but RB Leipzig said they wouldn’t be looking to sell until the following summer.
Gvardiol appears to be a top transfer target for Chelsea as they look to assemble a team for the future, with Graham Potter’s team considering a deal in either January or next summer.
