Coco Gauff and Jessica Pegula were defeated in the women’s doubles final by local favourites Caroline Garcia and Kristina Mladenovic, giving them their second French Open final defeat of the tournament.
Gauff, an American, lost her first Grand Slam singles final in Paris on Saturday to world number one Iga Swiatek.
The next day, she was back on Court Philippe Chatrier, losing 2-6 6-3 6-2 in doubles with compatriot Pegula.
“Hopefully we can win one in the future,” 18-year-old Gauff added.
Garcia and Mladenovic, the 2016 champions, have battled back from a set down for the third time this week.
Pegula also lost in the singles quarter-finals to Swiatek, and Gauff lost in the final on Saturday.
“You both lost to Iga, so in my opinion, both of you went all the way in singles,” Mladenovic joked.
“Winning this title with [Caroline] is a dream and I thank you.”
El Salvador’s Marcelo Arevalo and the Netherlands’ Jean-Julien Rojer survived three match points to defeat Croatia’s Ivan Dodig and American Austin Krajicek 6-7 (4-7) 7-6 (7-5) 6-3 to win the men’s title on Saturday.
