Franck Kessie injury update: Franck Kessie has been ruled out of club football until the World Cup after injuring himself during Barcelona’s win over Viktoria Plzen.
Since joining Barcelona in the summer, Kessi has spent the majority of the season on the sidelines, but in their final Champions League group game, he received his fifth start of the year.
He was doing well as the holding midfielder in place of Sergio Busquets when he was forced off after 67 minutes.
After the game, Xavi revealed that his player had a hamstring injury and would now be sidelined until after the World Cup, skipping the final two games before the team’s winter break.
“He is screwed. I think he has hurt his hamstring,” said the manager.
“He was playing a good game in the midfield position, winning duels, and was good at the start.”
Kessie’s pain will be mitigated by the fact that even if he had qualified, Ivory Coast would not have played in the World Cup.
