Victor Ikpeba, a former Nigerian international, has revealed why Arsenal failed to make the Premier League top four this season.
Arsenal wasted their chance to finish in the Champions League places, according to Ikpeba, after losing three consecutive games in April, including a six-pointer to Tottenham.
Next season, Arsenal will compete in the Europa League, while Tottenham will compete in the Champions League.
After 38 games, Mikel Arteta’s side finished fifth, one point behind fourth-placed Tottenham.
“Arsenal had a chance to be in the top four, they didn’t take their chances,” Ikpeba said on SuperSport’s Monday Night Football.
“If Arsenal had not lost three in a row, they later lost two including to their rivals Tottenham Hotspur, it was in the hands of Arsenal.”
