EPL: Ten Hag confirms five Man Utd players will sign contract extensions

Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag, has confirmed that at least five players will extend their contracts with the club, with their current deals set to expire at the end of the 2022/2023 season.

Marcus Rashford, Luke Shaw, David de Gea, Fred and Diogo Dalot all have six months remaining on their contracts, and Ten Hag has revealed the Red Devils plan on using their option to extend for a further 12 months, according to reports.

Rashford has been linked with a move to PSG, and Ten Hag remained coy on his plans for De Gea in the future, but by tying players down for another year it prevents certain stars leaving for nothing this summer.

‘We are talking with them to extend their contracts but we are in control because on all the players we have options and we will exercise these options,’ the Dutchman said.

But when he was asked about his Spanish goalkeeper in particular, he only added: ‘Like I say, we have options and we will do them.’

And when asked whether the relatively small amount of time left on five contracts leaves the club vulnerable, Ten Hag replied: ‘You can see it this way but if the decision is not that good we have other options.’

Rashford’s situation is one that perhaps will be more pressing for the club, with the forward undergoing an impressive return to form this season.
