Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag provides injury updates on two of his men; Varane and Maguire.
Raphael Varane, a defender for Manchester United, will be out until the World Cup, according to manager Erik ten Hag.
The France star was visibly upset as he limped off during Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Chelsea. Qatar 2022 will start on November 20.
The 29-year-old won’t play for United before the World Cup, though it’s unclear whether he’ll represent his nation there.
Erik ten Hag provides injury updates
Varane isn’t on the team, so Ten Hag believed that he won’t be playing until the World Cup. He won’t be participating for Man United.
“Varane isn’t in the squad, so he will be out certainly until the World Cup,” Ten Hag said. “He will not play in this block for Man United.”
Asked if he can play in the World Cup, Ten Hag said: “I think so, but the club knows we have to wait, see how he develops and how his rehab will develop.”
Harry Maguire Injury Update
Varane was replaced by Victor Lindelof at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, and Harry Maguire will return from injury for United.
Prior to suffering a hamstring injury while representing England earlier this season, the Red Devils captain lost his spot in the starting XI and was sidelined for a month.
Due to a protracted stretch of poor play, his position in Gareth Southgate’s team is also being questioned. Varane’s injury may provide him with the opportunity to turn things around just in time.
Ten Hag stated that Maguire might play again in the Europa League match against FC Sheriff on Thursday.
Ten Hag stated, “Harry, Donny [Van de Beek] and Aaron [Wan-Bissaka] are all in training preparing for tomorrow.”
When asked if the three could play on Thursday, Ten Hag added: “After training, I will make the decision with the medical staff.”
