Manchester United defender, Luke Shaw, is set for an ‘extended period’ on the sidelines due to a muscle problem, according to The Athletic.
Shaw played 90 minutes in both of United’s Premier League fixtures so far this season.
However, the 28-year-old will miss Saturday’s home game against Nottingham Forest and next week’s showdown with Arsenal.
United confirmed the reports late on Thursday evening with a brief statement that read: ‘Manchester United defender Luke Shaw has sustained an injury which will rule him out of forthcoming games.
‘The muscle issue is still being assessed but the England left-back is expected to be out of action for a number of weeks.’
Shaw has sustained a muscle injury and while it is hoped it will be a case of weeks rather than months, he will not play again until after the international break.
