On Boxing Day, Harry Kane’s goal against Brentford for Tottenham broke the Premier League’s scoring record.
At Gtech Community Stadium, the England captain headed in Ivan Perisic’s cross in the 65th minute to score his tenth goal on the day.
Kane continued his streak of scoring in all seven of his Premier League appearances on Boxing Day, breaking the previous mark of nine set by Robbie Fowler.
After Brentford took the lead through goals from Vitaly Janelt and Ivan Toney, Antonio Conte’s team fell behind 2-0. However, goals from Kane and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg pulled the visitors even.
Kane’s appearance for Spurs came 16 days after England’s humiliating loss to France in the World Cup quarterfinals in Qatar, where Kane missed a late penalty.
Despite that, he continued to perform well at the club level, scoring against Brentford for his 12th Premier League goal of the year.
