New Chelsea manager, Mauricio Pochettino, has claimed it was “easy decision” to accept the job, despite his history with their London rivals Tottenham Hotspur.
Pochettino officially began work on Monday, July 3 after he was appointed at the end of May.
Chelsea finished 12th in the Premier League last season, their lowest placing in more than 25 years – and miss out on European football.
Pochettino took his first day of training at Cobham on Monday and also gave his first interview since taking over, revealing that he had no reservations about moving to west London despite his five-and-a-half years with Spurs.
Speaking to the club’s website, he said: ‘For me, it’s a pleasure and an honour to be now involved with Chelsea football club. We are so excited and I know very well that Chelsea is one of the greatest football clubs in the world.
‘And of course, it was easy for us to take the decision to move here. I think we are really excited, we are so happy.
‘Today we can start here in Cobham, in the training ground, knowing all the people, meeting the staff. I think it’s an exciting time for us and of course what we want is to bring the happiness again to this great football club.
‘Working hard, playing in the way that the fans can enjoy football. The history of Chelsea football club is to win, but it’s important also in the way that we are going to build those victories.’
