EPL: He’s leaving – Foster tells Ten Hag to sign £80m Chelsea star

    By Aribo AdeyemiJune 3, 2023

Former England goalkeeper Ben Foster has said that it was strange to him that Chelsea are allowing midfielder Mason Mount leave the club and urged Manchester United to sign him for £60m.

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag wants to bolster his squad ahead of next season following qualification for the Champions League next season.

The Red Devils finished third in the Premier League and won the League Cup – their first trophy since 2017.

Manchester United will take on Manchester City in the final of the FA Cup on Saturday evening and could complete a domestic double.

Foster insists signing England midfielder Mount from Chelsea would be a ‘big boost’ and says Ten Hag should also attempt to bring Declan Rice to Old Trafford.

“It’s a big summer for Manchester United,” Foster told The United Stand YouTube channel. “Erik ten Hag needs to put pressure on the board and get some more players in. They have to bring quality in.

“I like Mason Mount. I think it’s inevitable he is going to go, which is a strange one for me. If I was Chelsea, I’m playing Mason Mount in the majority of games.

“He’s the sort of player you need in midfield. He will give you pure graft and work rate. Those are the players you need.

‘If United could get him for £50 or £60m, get him through the door.” Chelsea star
