Harry Maguire took his chance and showed determination to remain at Manchester United.
The player defied all odds to stay at Old Trafford last summer.
Maguire was dropped from the Red Devils’ squad following the arrival of Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane.
The England international was further stripped of the club’s captain armband and received backlashes from former players of the club.
However, Maguire held on and rejected every move to leave the club. And now, his decision appears to be paying off as he has returned to Erik ten Hag’s starting XI.
“Harry Maguire took his chance. We were talking about injured players, he took his chance when Rapha Varane was absent,” Ten Hag said of Harry Maguire on Thursday.
“There is internal competition, which is normal in big clubs. When your chance comes, you must seize it and the others must fight to be back”.
