Borussia Dortmund have sacked their manager, Lucien Favre, after their humiliating 5-1 at home to Stuttgart on Saturday.
Favre – whose contract was due to expire at the end of the season – will be replaced by his previous assistant coach Edin Terzic with immediate effect.
It is believed the squad will be informed about the decision during their training session on Sunday afternoon and will remain under Terzic’s tutelage for their game against Werder Bremen.
Former Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino has already been installed among the early favourites to replace Favre.
The result against Stuttgart was Dortmund’s fourth defeat of the season – leaving them five points behind Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich.
Subsequently, Dortmund sit fifth in the Bundesliga table on 19 points from their first 11 games.
However, it’s not all been bad news for Favre’s side as Dortmund did manage to qualify for the last-16 of the Champions League as group winners.
