Kai Havertz posted a cute selfie with his dog on Instagram on Thursday as he continues to self-isolate following his positive Covid test.
The £71m star, signed from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer, tested positive for coronavirus on Monday and has been self-isolating since, missing the Blues’ 3-0 win against Rennes in the Champions League on Wednesday.
Manager Frank Lampard detailed that the rest of the group tested negative again after Havertz contracted the virus but the Blues boss added that the 21-year-old’s symptoms have ‘escalated’ in the past few days.
‘Kai’s showed up in the UEFA testing on Monday, so we re-tested them yesterday and everyone else is negative in the squad, so that’s a good sign,’ said Lampard.
‘I’ve spoken to Kai a couple of times, he’s very disappointed because he just wants to play.
‘His symptoms escalated slightly today but he’s fine, and just disappointed to be out.
‘It’s just one of those things, but hopefully the isolating will help.’
