Man dragged to court for allegedly assaulting wife

stealing liquor worth N16.1m

Mrs Mwuese Mbalaha, a housewife, dragged her husband Moses Tyovenda before a Makurdi Upper Area Court on Thursday for alleged assault and causing harm.

According to the Prosecution Counsel, Insp Rachael Mchiave, the case was reported on Jan. 11 at the B’ Divisional Police Station High Level, Makurdi by Mbalaha of behind Prison Yard, Yaikyo, Makurdi.

Mchiave, the wife of the defiant Tyovenda of No. 37 Tkpakpan Street Modern Market Road Makurdi, the father of her two children, trespassed into her Wurukum market shop and assaulted her.

Her husband allegedly also kicked her in the chest.

She further stated that the defendant tore her cloth and destroyed her hand dag.
The offence, she said, contravened the provisions of sections 348,265, 240 and 327 of the Penal Code laws.

She said investigation into the matter was still ongoing and requested for additional time to complete it.
However, when the case came up for mention the accused denied all the allegations against him.

The Magistrate, Mrs Dooshima Ikpambese, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N50, 000 and one surety in the like sum.

He adjourned the case until Feb. 22 for further mention. (NAN)
