A forthcoming cinematic creation featuring Tiwa Savage, Nigeria’s prominent female music sensation, is set to make its debut on Amazon Prime Video later this year. Titled “Water and Garri,” the film is a collaborative effort between Everything Savage and Unbound Studios, showcasing the movie debut of the award-winning star renowned for her soulful voice and chart-topping tracks.
“Water and Garri,” a collaborative production involving Everything Savage, Unbound Studios, and JM Films, boasts a screenplay by Comfort Emmanuel, direction and editing by Meji Alabi, and production by Jimi Adesanya. Tiwa Savage, Vannessa Amadi-Ogbonna, Jimi Adesanya, and Meji Alabi also serve as executive producers.
Directed by Meji Alabi, “Water and Garri” will add to Prime Video Nigeria’s expanding collection of diverse Nollywood content, including titles such as “Love and Life,” “Big Love,” and “SHE Must Be Obeyed,” among others, marking a compelling start to 2024.
The narrative unfolds the journey of Aisha, portrayed by Savage, an ambitious fashion designer who returns to her homeland after a decade in the United States, following the loss of a family member. As Aisha grapples with changes at home, including heightened violence and rising tensions, she must come to terms with her scars, confront lingering guilt, and reconnect with family, old friends, and a past love.
Filmed in Ghana, the cinematic feature seamlessly combines cinematography and storytelling, featuring a stellar cast that includes Andrew Bunting, Mike Afolarin, and Jemima Osunde.
