Many are ignorant of some some basic etiquette that will help position them for great opportunities and platforms. So many have lost opportunities that was worth a million dollar just because the wrong manner and attitude.
Below are some basic etiquette you should inculcate beginning from now even as the year is nearing its end.

1. If you’re walking along with someone and your companion greets a person you don’t know, you should also greet them.
2. Wives should sit on the left side of their husbands at formal gatherings
3. Don’t initiate a handshake with an elder, dignitary or an unfamiliar person
4. During formal introduction, introduce the junior to the senior. Simply put, speak to the person you wish to honour first.
5. When an SMS is received, it is proper to acknowledge receipt.
6. When receiving a call from elders, give respectful feedback such as yes sir/ma.
7. Avoid the use of bright colour socks (it is childish).
8. Learn to utilize cutlery set correctly
9. Formal letters should be written simple, polite and grammatically correct.
10. Should you attend a meeting late, stand until you are permitted to sit down.
11. The golden rule when using perfume is moderation. If you can still smell your perfume in the evening, everyone else is already tired of it.
12. Don’t forget to thank your loved ones, relatives, and friends. They help you not because they have to. It’s their desire. Appreciate them.
13. Don’t lend someone a book or item unless they specifically ask for it.
14. Chew with your mouth closed and keep your elbows off of the table while eating.
15. Always RSVP and don’t RSVP for an event, then not show.
By the way, RSVP is an acronym of the French phrase, “Respondez s’il vous plait,” or “Respond, if you please.”
16. Learn people’s name and remember that a person’s own name is the single most important word to him/her.
