Mark Edward Fischbach (born June 28, 1989), popularly known by his online alias Markiplier, is a US-born YouTuber and social media personality. He began his career in Cincinnati, Ohio, and is currently based in Los Angeles, California.
Aside from content creation, Markiplier is a co-founder of clothing company Cloak with fellow YouTuber Jacksepticeye. In addition, he is a co-host for the Distractible Podcast alongside LordMinion777 and Muyskerm.
Markiplier‘s YouTube channel has garnered over 17.9 billion video views and over 32.5 million unique subscribers.
Markiplier was born at the Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii, on June 28th, 1989. He was born to Cliffton Fischbach (father), a German-American who served in the U.S. Army, and Sunok Frank (mother). His parents met when his father was stationed in Korea.
Markiplier reportedly lost his father to the cold hands of death in 2008.
After his birth, his parents moved to Cincinnati, Ohio, where he was raised. He grew up in Milford, Ohio. He enrolled at the Milford High School, where he was a member of the school’s marching band and played the trumpet.

Markiplier joined YouTube in March 2012, and he submitted his debut video the following month. Because he was originally planning to produce sketch comedy films in which he played every part, he created the moniker “Markiplier,” a mix of his first name and “multiplier.”
His first YouTube series was a playthrough of the video game “Amnesia: The Dark Descent,” however, YouTube disabled his AdSense account after he played numerous additional games on his channel, prompting him to launch a new channel, “markiplierGAME,” in May 2012.
Markiplier started a playthrough of “Five Nights at Freddy’s” in August 2014, and it quickly became his most popular playthrough, with over 80 million views. Later in the franchise, he appeared in “Five Nights at Freddy’s AR: Special Delivery,” and had a cameo in “Five Nights at Freddy’s AR: Special Delivery,” released in 2019.

In 2015, Mark was admitted to the hospital for stomach difficulties. Some years later, a fist-sized tumour in his adrenal gland was removed. His appendix was also enlarged. In late 2020, he was hospitalized again for intestinal issues.
Thankfully, it was not life-threatening. He didn’t need surgery for it. He’s now back in his LA home with his girlfriend Amy Nelson, the woman Mark dated since 2015.
