Lily Allen recorded three demos in November 2005 and uploaded them to MySpace. After they drew thousands of listeners, she rushed the release of 500 limited edition 7-inch vinyl singles. To promote her art, she created two mixtapes, My First Mixtape and My Second Mixtape.

Her next album, No Shame, was released on 8 June, 2018. The album, which peaked at number eight on the UK Albums Chart, features confessional lyrics about the breakdown of her marriage, maternal guilt, substance abuse etc.
On 20 September 2018, she published her memoir, My Thoughts Exactly, which was nominated for the FutureBook Campaign of the Year. In the following year, she starred as Elizabeth Taylor in a coming-of-age film entitled How to Build a Girl.
