Lesotho coach Leslie Notsi has said that his team did not respect the Super of Nigeria during their World Cup qualifying clash in Uyo on Thursday.
The Crocodiles were heading for a shocking victory against the Super Eagles until Semi Ajayi headed in from Kelechi Iheanacho’s corner.
But to many Nigerian football fans, the draw seemed like a defeat and the team has been lambasted for their very poor performance.
Notsi said they actually had no respect for the Super Eagles, insisting that their gameplan worked as planned.
Speaking to the press after the match, the coach said, “We’ll take it one step at a time. We have to take one step at a time because we need to be level headed.
“I told them that I need to see progress in the team each match…we just need to go again against Benin Republic and see how best we can get a good performance, gradually, after four games we can talk about qualification.
“We did not give Nigeria respect. We did not give them respect like we said ‘look, they’re the same human beings like us. Let’s go there and have fun…”
