Olympic gold medalist Abiodun Obafemi of Atlanta ’96 has given some advice to the Super Falcons before their match against Cameroon in the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations semifinal on Thursday (today).
In order to renew their rivalry and compete for a spot in the semifinals and a chance to select a ticket to the World Cup that will be held in Australia and New Zealand, both teams are scheduled to meet in Casablanca, Morocco at the Mohammed V Stadium.
Despite losing 2-1 to South Africa in their opening Group C match, the Falcons went on to defeat Botswana 2-0 on matchday two and Burundi 4-0 on Sunday to advance from the group stage and secure a matchup with the Indomitable Lionesses in the quarterfinals.
The Lionesses have yet to lose at this year’s WAFCON, and they also have the best defensive record in the competition after only allowing one goal.
Before the much talked about battle, Obafemi warned the Falcons to be cautious of the aggressive Central Africans in an interview with the Punch.
