UCL defending champions and EPL side Chelsea have been handed a double injury blow as their two strikers, Germany international Timo Werner and Belgian star Romelu Lukaku picked up injuries during their last night game with Swedish side Malmo.
Although Chelsea went on to win the match in a 4-0 scoreline thanks to goals from Jorginho (2), Andreas Christensen and Kai Havertz, they, however, have reasons to be worried as their key frontmen may be out for some days.
Lukaku was forced off with a suspected ankle injury in the 20th minute of the first half as he went down under a challenge inside the box; Werner would later join him some minutes later after sustaining what is believed to be a hamstring.
Tuchel will be hoping that either or both strikers are fit for their weekend’s Premier League game vs Norwich City.
Chelsea are currently seated at the top of the EPL table as they remain one of the major contenders to win the title this season alongside Man City and Liverpool.
