UCL: Benzema scores hat-trick as Real Madrid demolish star-studded PSG; Man City advance despite draw

Karim Benzema’s second-half hat-trick helped Real Madrid secured to a place in the Champions League quarter-finals.

The whites produced a shocking comeback after Benzema scored thrice at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium, Madrid, on Wednesday, in the second leg of their round of 16 UEFA Champions League clash against Paris Saint-Germain.

Kylian Mbappe’ gave the visitors the lead in the 39th minute. But Benzema’s tricky second-half hat-trick was enough to send the star-studded PSG off the European stage.

Madrid has lost to PSG 0-1 in the first leg in Paris but were able to get the next round ticket ahead of the Parisians on aggregate.

Meanwhile, the other Wednesday’s Champions League fixture between Manchester City and Sporting Lisbon ended in draw as both teams failed to produced goals at Etihad.

However, City cruised into the Champions League quarter-finals on 5-0 aggregate, having beat Lisbon 5-nill in the first leg of the round of 16.
