Former Premier League star, Dwight Yorke has warned Manchester United to be careful the way they handle their long-term goalkeeper David De Gea.
The former Red Devils star believes the Red Devils are being “disrespectful” to the Spaniard.
De Gea’s future at Manchester United is currently unclear as the Spaniard is at the moment a free agent after his contract expired on July 1.
Man United recently submitted a new offer with a lower salary which has not been signed by De Gea as Erik ten Hag’s side are in talks to sign goalkeeper Andre Onana from Inter Milan.
“The David de Gea situation is a bit disrespectful from Man United, but they also have the right to do it. You never want to end your long career at such a big club in turmoil,” Yorke told BoyleSports.
“I understand how these football clubs work, but I also sympathise with the player. Man United have to be careful what they wish for. You don’t win the Golden Glove if you are not a good goalkeeper.
“It is a bigger risk to bring in any of the goalkeepers Man United are looking at than to stick with De Gea.”
