Transfer rumour: Kylian Mbappe to leave PSG January

Kylian Mbappe has shockingly informed Paris Saint-Germain of his desire to leave the club in January.

The 23-year-old signed a three-year contract extension in May after it appeared he would sign for Real Madrid on a free transfer. At the time, he said Paris was “his city” and that he intended to stay and win championships.

Since then, Mbappe has continued to grab attention amid rumours of a falling out with teammate Neymar. At the weekend, Mbappe criticised Christophe Galtier, the PSG head coach who was hired in the summer to succeed Mauricio Pochettino, for his tactics in a now-deleted social media post.

Mbappe’s comments were made “in the heat of the moment,” according to Galtier’s response. However, that tensions have been rising behind the scenes to the point where Mbappe has informed the club that he wants to leave.

Mbappe would prefer to leave his current club in January, but the 23-year-old is aware that it will be challenging to arrange a transfer to Real Madrid or any other club during the current campaign.

PSG’s position is that they have no immediate plans to sell or loan Mbappe, and club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi is not happy with how things have turned out with Mbappe, which is perhaps understandable.
