Transfer rumour: Bayern Munich target Ronaldo as possible replacement for Lewandowski

Bayern Munich, the defending champions of the Bundesliga, are interested in signing Cristiano Ronaldo to replace Robert Lewandowski, who is still trying to convince Barcelona to sign him.

Ronaldo is rumored to be dissatisfied with his present club’s lack of success in the transfer market, and should it persist, he may think about staying at Old Trafford for the foreseeable future.

Since replacing Ralf Rangnick, new manager Erik ten Hag has failed to make a signing, raising questions about whether United will be able to compete with teams like Premier League champions Manchester City and Liverpool in the coming season.

Ronaldo desires to play in the Champions League but is willing to remain a United fan as long as they demonstrate ambition throughout the transfer window, but there are no promising signals.

There hasn’t been much movement in the search for new players up to this point, and Bayern now appears to be keeping an eye on Ronaldo’s status.

Additionally, Bayern is considering the Portugal international as a potential Lewandowski successor, according to the Spanish tabloid AS.

After eight seasons with Bayern, the Polish international is still pursuing a transfer, but the club is reluctant to let him go.

The 33-year-opening old’s bid from Barcelona, estimated to be around £35 million, has officially been submitted.

After speaking with the striker in Mallorca, Bayern’s sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic is still hopeful that the Polish star will remain in Germany.

“Lewandowski staying? Until now it’s 100 per cent. July 12 is his first day at work, so I’m awaiting him,” he told Sky Germany.

“Meeting in Mallorca with Robert was very good. Each side explained their position, good one.”
