Transfer: Man Utd owner blocking Cristiano Ronaldo from leaving Old Trafford

One of Manchester United’s owners, Joel Glazer, is blocking Cristiano Ronaldo from leaving the team because he wants to keep the five time ballon d’Or winner in Old Trafford.

Ronaldo has been searching for a way out of Old Trafford all summer. Given that they are currently last in the Premier League after two games, his situation is becoming more and more relatable.

The 37-year-old hasn’t found a buyer yet, but the club has also been adamantly opposed to letting him go thus far this summer, at least publicly.

According to reports on Monday, United will now consider offers for the five-time Ballon d’Or winner, so it appears that is no longer the case.

However, United co-chairman Joel Glazer, who has personally halted any potential departure, according to the Manchester Evening News, has helped cost the team over £1 billion.

Even though Erik ten Hag is open to the idea of losing the forward, the younger of the two Glazer brothers, who own the club, wants Ronaldo to stay.

The American has previously expressed his opposition to the sale of a forward, having previously been a huge supporter of Anthony Martial.

The 55-year-old had previously stated that he didn’t want to sell the former Monaco player because he thought the Frenchman might be “United’s Pele.”

Last summer, he ultimately gave the 26-year-old permission to leave Old Trafford, though the striker ultimately stayed until January before going out on loan.
