Erik ten Hag has informed his superiors at Manchester United that he is now willing for Cristiano Ronaldo to leave the soccer team this summer.
Ronaldo was very clear with United that he wanted to leave Old Trafford after just one season of being back there, primarily because he wanted to play Champions League football. He made this clear to them as early as June.
When the Portuguese legend tried to leave, United and Ten Hag immediately went on the defensive and insisted that he would not be allowed to. However, a follow-up meeting in July between all parties confirmed once more to the club that the 37-year-old wanted his future to lie outside of United.
Although some clubs have publicly stated they are not in the market for the Portugal captain, Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea, and Atletico Madrid have all been linked with his moves.
However, Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes is adamant that teams are willing to move for the player this month if United agree to his departure.
After their disastrous start to the Premier League season, Ten Hag has now spoken with the club’s hierarchy and made it clear that he believes Ronaldo leaving is best for the team. Ten Hag’s comments come as tensions are rising in the camp.
